Wes Anderson Themed Weddings Are Popular, But Here Are 5 Other Directors to Inspire Your Big Day

Jennifer Van Elk is a super hip wedding photographer based in Illinois who decided to throw herself a Wes Anderson inspired wedding.

Jennifer and her fiancé posed for a Royal Tenenbaums themed photo shoot:

They handed out quirky sea pebbles that were covered in movie quotes:

They created amazing film canister Save the Dates:

And their table settings looked like the opening credits of every single Wes Anderson film:

Even if you're aren't into Anderson's vaguely pseudo-European pastel esthetic, you can still base you wedding style on movies from your favorite director!

Here are 5 directors you can steal from in order to make your wedding Oscar worthy:

1. Quentin Tarantino

If you're into the idea of a western ninja grindhouse wedding, a Tarantino theme might be for you. Make sure all of your wedding décor pays homage to several different wedding styles to really master the art of pastiche. And, of course, make sure you walk down the aisle to an Ennio Morricone classic.

2. Tim Burton

Revive your inner scene-kid and buy all of your wedding party outfits from Hot Topic. Remember: there's no such thing as too much makeup... (we're talking to the groom.)

3. Baz Luhrmann

Thousands of lights, over-the-top décor, diamonds, and, of course, elaborate masquerade costumes are what you need to pull off a Baz Luhrmann-style wedding. Easy!

4. David Lynch

Switch out your bridesmaids halfway through the ceremony, but explain nothing. Take an hour to read your vows, pausing mid-sentence.... every sentence. Girls: Make out with every woman in sight. Guys: Just watch. Also everything should be tinted blue.

5. Steven Spielberg

Really all you need is a John Williams score and a deep, heaping love of nostalgia. If you're feeling really bold, you can add in some animatronics to shock people into making the classic "Spielberg face."

Now you can show off your love for the classics while showing your love for your significant other. Just remember that this quote Frank Capra said not only applies to movies, but your wedding, too: "There are no rules in filmmaking. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness."
